Was a wonderful week. Kids were introduced to Powerpoint in Week 3 and were asked to do a slide-show about anything they love the most. The results were amazing. Just seeing them think real hard of what color would look the best is great. They are putting their best and the results are good.
Sunday, they were introduced to the magnificent world of internet. Gmail accounts were opened for all the students. They also learnt to google for information-Popular searches were Shivaji, Natambi, India, and more… Google maps, chatting, mailing, and so much more. All of this brought a gleam to their eye. ‘Can we read mails from anywhere in the world? Really?’ was their expression! Few pictures of the whole batch along with the volunteers from the college are attached.

Coming to mid-way of the program-the progress is unbelievable. Kids have started to interact more, talk more, try more and learn more. All-in-all, they have become pretty confident of working things out by themselves. Its just the way to learn computers-Get someone to introduce you to computing and follow it up by some gold-digging yourself…Cause I don’t think anyone taught you readers of how to Orkut, Facebook, blog etc.! Here are a few pics of the kids and their first try at a conference.

Our First Camp:Bhor

What started as an idea, grew into the first camp to teach computers for 40 students from the 8th standard of a local school in Bhor, and what will seed many more camps to teach students to compute.
This began for some of the founding members as an idea, a hope but lacking finesse…For some the backing but common for all-A Desire To Effort A Change.
The first camp officially started on 11th of July,2009. With fledgling student strength of 40 from a school called Natambi, it marks a beginning to satiate their need to learn computers. And Yes! Are they eager to study!
The most important feedback from the students was to increase the time of class! Now that shows diligence, what a commendable effort!
Consider this-their school is 7 km from the camp-site:the college. Either tred it up, or for some- the ‘expensive’ ST Bus. For the volunteers, the members-some come from Pune (30 kms) while some leave their chores for each week-end…!
All-in-all, an amazing effort from both sides!
Now thats what we at Shwaas call-Our Effort At Change!
